Throughout The View’s history, many of the show’s wealthy hosts have been lightning rods for criticism. Similarly
even though Jennifer Lopez is a music star who has headlined many blockbuster movies
she has been the subject of a lot of gossip and criticism.
For example, there was a rumor that Lopez won’t let Ben Affleck be around female flight attendants.
Even though they both are controversial, some observers were surprised when The View’s former host, Meghan McCain, called Lopez out. However, fans probably shouldn’t have been that surprised, since several other celebrities also have called Lopez out.
This article will reveal that several celebrities feuded with Jennifer Lopez before Meghan McCain called her out. Then, the article will look at what Lopez has said about being called a diva.
Several Celebrities Have Feuded With Jennifer Lopez Before Meghan McCain
Throughout Jennifer Lopez’s career, she had a huge fan following for many, many years. One of the reasons for that was the fact that Lopez has come across as a very likable person during interviews and in movie roles.
However, based on the long list of celebrities who’ve called Lopez out, there is no doubt that many stars haven’t found her likable at all. One of the celebrities who once called Lopez out is Howard Stern.
During a May 2012 Today interview, Stern insulted Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez. Stern was an America’s Got Talent judge when he mocked Lopez and Spears who were serving in the same role on other reality shows. Stern’s comments made Lopez seem self-obsessed.
“Well, I think it’s a wonderful decision. Britney still thinks the earth is flat. I don’t anticipate great opinions from her. I think she’s gonna sit there like J.Lo, ‘Oh, you’re wonderful, you’re terrific. You think I can get a perfume endorsement out of this?’…I’ll tune in to see what kind of trainwreck she is.”

Another celebrity who called Lopez out in public is Nicki Minaj. In 2012 when Lopez was judging American Idol, Minaj performed as a guest and then tried to join the judge’s panel as a guest. However, things went awry when Lopez refused to move over for Minaj and commented, “I don’t know if there’s enough room for both of us.”
What is the ranking of American Idol judges, according to Gold Derby?
After that embarrassing incident, Minaj spoke to The Hollywood Reporter backstage according to Nicki Swift’s article.
While talking to the outlet, Minaj commented, “[Lopez] didn’t seem to be having it but she gonna have it”. During the same conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, however, Minaj went on to say they were “just joking around” but most observers took the situation seriously.
When celebrity women are labeled “divas” the assumption often is that fame went to their heads. However, according to Rosie Perez who met Lopez in 1991 when they were both working on In Living Color, that isn’t the case for her.
In 2014, Perez released her memoir titled “Handbook for an Unpredictable Life”. In her book, Perez wrote about her time working as the choreographer for In Living Color’s Fly Girls which Lopez was a part of. According to Perez’s memoir, the other Fly Girls came to her and made accusations against Lopez.
“All of the girls were coming into my office complaining how she was manipulating wardrobe, makeup, and me, all to her advantage.”
As Nicki Swift’s article detailed, Perez also wrote in her book about Lopez yelling at her like, “some ghetto biatch, screaming and pounding her chest!”

Meghan McCain Claims The View Employees Could Be Punished For Liking Her As She Says ‘There’s Not A Chance’ She’d Return
Meghan McCain claimed people who work on The View behind the scenes can get punished for being friends with her.
In June 2024, Meghan McCain added her voice to the list of people who’ve called Lopez out as an article from The Daily Mail detailed. During an episode of her “Citizen McCain” podcast, McCain called Lopez, “a deeply unpleasant person” who needed to “humble herself”.
Far from done, McCain went on to say that Lopez, “had the biggest entourage [she’d] ever seen of any celebrity” McCain went on to elaborate by saying Lopez’s entourage was bigger than Kim Kardashians and The President when they appeared on The View.
After McCain’s comments, her guest, Carlos King, expressed surprise after saying Lopez had been kind to him. In response, McCain stated “JLo does not have a reputation for being a nice, normal person. I’m not exposing [anything].”
Even though Lopez has been called out by many celebrities, there is more to the story than that. In fairness to Lopez, it is important to note that she has several celebrity friends who’ve said positive things about her.
According to a list from Ranker, some of Lopez’s celebrity friends include Leah Remini, Marc Anthony, Pitbull, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson, Ben Affleck, Britney Spears, and Cameron Diaz among others.

Do Jennifer Lopez’s On-Set Demands Make Her One Of The Most Difficult People To Work With In Hollywood?
Jennifer Lopez has a reputation for making a lot of demands which may make it hard to work with her.
During the conversation with the other actors, Lopez spoke about how much harder it was for women to find success in Hollywood. The reason for that, according to Lopez, is women are harshly judged for how they behave.
“I’ve always been fascinated by how much more well-behaved we have to be than men.”
From there, Lopez went on to discuss the reputation she’d already garnered by then. As Lopez explained, she didn’t believe that she deserved to be labeled a diva which she had been by then and continues to be.
“I got a moniker of being ‘the diva,’ which I never felt I deserved—which I don’t deserve—because I’ve always been a hard worker, on time, doing what I’m supposed to do, and getting that label because you reach a certain amount of success.”
