American pop performer Machine Gun Kelly, who has a complicated relationship with actress Megan Fox, shocked people with a confession about his father.
It turns out that his father was tried for the murder of the singer’s grandfather when he was only 9 years old.
The singer, whose real name is Colson Baker, recounted how his father, at age 9, faced trial with his mother over the death of his grandfather.
The case involved a weapon. He revealed that both his father and grandmother were tried for the murder but were acquitted.
The singer says that he only understood how these events affected his father and his mental state as he grew older.
“I just remember being really angry at him as a kid because if I scared him or he heard a loud bang or noise, he would get really upset. And I would be like, ‘You’re a man, dude, why are you acting like this?’” Machine Gun Kelly recalled.
Over time, the singer also realized how these events impacted his own life. He says that his father’s troubled childhood influenced his own actions, behavior, and emotions.
“I think I designed myself as someone who has the endurance to handle all the things that come with fame, criticism, and hate. Because I struggled with all these traumas, becoming the kind of person I always wanted to see my father as—tough, someone who rejects everything and just fights anyone who comes at you,” he says.
Interestingly, this is not the first time the artist has shared his family’s difficult history. In the 2022 documentary “Life in Pink,” MGK talked about these events with his daughter, Casie Baker, who is now 15 years old. The singer mentions that his father did not take the opportunity to work through these issues, and they surfaced when he grew up.
