Simone Biles Faces Criticism Over Wedding Look—Olympic Champion Claps Back with Powerful Response

Simone Biles in $120 Wedding Dress Blasted for Unkempt Hair – Olympic Star ‘Hungry’ During Childhood Responds

In a small ceremony, NFL player Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles, who were dressed in a $120 dress and $35 shoes, exchanged vows.

This happened after Biles initiated contact with them using a dating app.

The famous gymnast was sure to reply after receiving backlash from internet users regarding her hair, which appeared disheveled.
The famous gymnast has been performing exceptionally well at the Olympics in Paris, France, this year.

After marrying NFL player Jonathan Owens in a private ceremony officiated only by a judge, Simone Biles became Mrs. Owens officially. For their admirers, the happy couple posted pictures from their wedding on social media.

American gymnast Simone Biles is a trailblazer whose remarkable career has redefined perfection. Biles is the most decorated gymnast in the history of the World Championships with an incredible 30 medals from the World Championships, including 23 golds, and multiple Olympic medals, including four golds.

President Joe Biden awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2022, further recognition of her accomplishments. Her spouse Jonathan Owens modestly describes himself on Instagram as “a kid from St. Louis” in the meantime. He does, however, also have a very strong resume.

Owens attended Christian Brothers College High School before pursuing his football career at Missouri Western State University. He received the title of Male Student-Athlete of the Year during his last year. Following graduation, he became a free agent and entered the 2018 NFL Draft.

Following the 2018 NFL Draft, Owens signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals. But before the season started, he suffered a knee injury during practice, therefore he was never able to make his rookie appearance.

These days, Owens is a safety with the Houston Texans. His greatest admirer, Biles, has never stopped supporting him during NFL games.

In 2020, the pair connected via a dating app, with Biles initiating contact. Throughout the pandemic, they deepened their connection by getting to know one another better.

In February of 2022, the couple became engaged. Biles remarked that accepting Owens’ marriage proposal was the easiest “yes” she had ever said because she was eager to live out her days with him. Before their small wedding, more than a year of preparation was needed.

The Owens’ decision to have a small, judge-only wedding caught many off guard. The couple made it clear that they intended to get married in the US before organizing a more public destination wedding.

The couple immediately posted their unique wedding images with their admirers on social media since they were so happy with their wedding. With their common bridal stances, the photos conveyed their happiness at becoming one in marriage.

Biles opted for a modest attire for their wedding in a courtroom. She was dressed in a $120 white tiered midi dress and $35 heels that she had purchased on sale.

The items had apparently been flying off the shelves after she posted about her bridal attire. Her effortless elegance captured the attention of many, who sought to copy her look.

The bride acknowledged that she ordered everything the week before her wedding, including her dress, shoes, bands, and bouquet. She claimed that she spent more time getting ready for their destination wedding than she did for the civil ceremony.

Following their vow exchange, the adorable pair enjoyed a straightforward photo session at several places. For several post-wedding pictures, they posed on a building rooftop and in an elegant-looking elevator.

Although Biles received compliments on her attire, her hairstyle also drew criticism. Her hair looked “unkempt,” some said in now-deleted tweets, while others said she “should’ve laid the edges” and “could’ve at least gotten a lace in front.”

The remarks set off a discussion between her detractors and supporters. Biles did, however, finally speak up.

Upon seeing the out-of-control remarks on her hair, Biles took to Twitter, saying, “I think they also forget I live in HOUSTON, TEXAS & I sweat those out!!” as soon as we went outdoors to take pictures. However, they are free to continue grumbling.”

Under a supportive fan’s remark, Biles responded, stating that although there were many positive aspects of her life to be grateful for, some people only decided to criticize her hair. Numerous more people agreed with the thoughtful fan’s observations and advised Biles to ignore the naysayers.

The precise date of the Owens’ big day was kept a secret. They opted to hasten their US wedding, meanwhile, because Biles had intimated that it might take place in a few weeks. Biles planned her large wedding for months. Galia Lahav, an Israeli designer, created two outfits for her.

The gymnast claimed she will wear four outfits to her destination wedding, as if that weren’t already lavish enough. The Owens’ big day arrived in May 2023 when they exchanged vows in front of 144 guests in Cabo, Mexico.

Growing up hasn’t been easy for Biles, as she’s faced a lot of pressure to be among the greatest gymnasts in the nation. On March 14, 1997, Biles was born in Ohio to her father, who had abandoned them when she was a young child, and her mother, who battled drug addiction.

Biles and her three siblings were frequently left without adequate care and nourishment for the most of their early lives. Her mother fed a stray cat in their home instead of her kids, so they were often hungry.

When their neighbors saw that Biles’ biological mother was unable to care for her kids, they alerted social workers to the concerning circumstances. It was decided by the social workers that Biles and her siblings would be better off in foster care.

Biles once said, “I don’t remember a lot about foster care.” Her only fear was of being parted from her siblings.

They were all living together in a house at first. Fearing that her older brother would be taken away and gone by morning, Biles remembered hurrying to his room to see how he was doing.

Sadly, Biles was forced to spend time apart from her elder siblings. After their grandparents, Nellie and Ron Biles, decided to adopt them, Biles and her sister Adria relocated to Texas when she was six years old.

Biles refers to Nellie and Ron as her parents. Her two older siblings, Ashley and Tevin, were taken in by their Ohio-residing great-aunt in the meantime.

After going through so much as a young child, Simone Biles was motivated to get better. She started gymnastics and gave up many things to pursue her dream of being a professional athlete, such as attending public school until the age of 14 and choosing to homeschool in order to concentrate on her sport.

Since she began participating in the sport, Biles has excelled as a gymnast. She liked her sport and felt like a regular kid, but everyone else saw her brilliance and skill.

The Olympian did not go through the normal teenage experiences, such as going to prom or school functions. Nevertheless, her passion for gymnastics kept her going.

Biles made her mark in 2016 by taking home four gold medals at the Rio Olympics. In the balance beam, she also took home a bronze medal.

But soon after the Olympics, Biles faced criticism from Russian hackers who said she used prescription medication that was on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of prohibited substances. She promptly defended herself, stating that she had been taking the drug for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) since she was a young child.

Biles became one of the numerous victims of USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar’s torture two years later. More than 330 females and women charged Nassar with sexual abuse.

Admitting what Nassar had done to her was difficult for Biles. She used to argue and reject it whenever her mother Nellie questioned her about it.

But one day, Biles suddenly realized the abuse was happening, and she broke down while driving. Her mother recognized right away why she was crying uncontrollably while on the phone with Nellie.

Biles spoke out about the circumstance when she had finally come to terms with it. People came together to support her in her quest for justice, along with hundreds of other girls involved in USA Gymnastics, when she posted a lengthy message on social media about her personal experience of abuse at the hands of Nassar.

She spoke out against USA Gymnastics in an interview with “Today,” criticizing them for their part in the mistreatment of hundreds of young women at the hands of Nassar. She stated, “You had one job, you literally had one job, and you couldn’t protect us.”

Her mental health suffered as a result of the trauma she experienced, and despite her excellent performance history, she decided to give up gymnastics. She was not able to become the first American woman to win five gold medals in a single Games, despite her best efforts, at the Tokyo Olympics.

Biles had stepped off the mat twice by accident on the first day of the competition, which was unusual for the seasoned athlete. She secured her spot in the finals in spite of the rough start.

Since her parents weren’t present to support her, Biles may have felt less like herself at the Games. She was nervous not seeing them in the midst of the throng because they had always been there for her throughout her greatest events.

Biles decided to switch from her intended Amanar vault to a more controllable one mid-air at the start of the team final, and she had trouble landing. Biles declared at the conclusion of the team finals that she was withdrawing due to health concerns.

The gymnast withdrew from the vault, uneven bars, and individual all-around finals as well. She then stated that she withdrew to save her emotional well-being. Her last trip to the Olympics was scheduled for Tokyo.

Nevertheless, she made the decision to remain open for the 2024 Paris Games, as encouraged by her French coaches, Cecile and Lauren Landi.

As it happens, Biles chose to follow the advice of her French coaches, and she has been competing in the Paris Olympics since July 30, 2024.

The 27-year-old Olympian has so far participated in events in artistic gymnastics, including the floor exercise final, uneven bars final, vault final, women’s team final, and all-around final.

She has won two silver medals for the floor exercise and three gold medals for the women’s team, all-around and vault. Hezly Rivera, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Biles’s skilled American colleagues Jade Carey and Sunisa Lee also shared the triumph in the team event.

Eight of the eleven medals that might have been awarded at the Olympics were claimed by Biles and her US team, according to a news source covering the last day of gymnastics competition.

Three of those eight were gold. This indicates that out of the six gold medals that could have been awarded, Team USA Gymnastics only managed to win three.

Even though the accomplishment is amazing, it was not easy to achieve. According to the same source, Biles’s colleagues faced some very challenging opponents.

Rebeca Andrade, a Brazilian gymnast, exerted pressure on Biles during the competition and eventually succeeded in the floor exercise, giving Biles a serious competition. Biles was only four steps away from mastering a very challenging program.

Andrade ultimately prevailed in the floor exercise, taking home a gold medal with a score of 14.166, while Biles received a silver medal with a score of 14.133. Chiles scored 13.666, good for fifth place.

Nevertheless, Biles has had incredible success at the Olympics this year, taking home ten medals total—seven golds, two bronzes, and one silver.

Although Biles’s achievements are undoubtedly exciting and have led to a plethora of inquiries from fans curious about the superstar’s future move, Biles has begged the public to stop the barrage.

She wrote on X, “You guys really gotta stop asking athletes what’s next after they win a medal at the Olympics.” She went on, saying, “let us soak up the moment we’ve worked our whole lives for.”

Although Larisa Latynina of the Soviet Union achieved similar feats, Biles has won more gold medals total. She shares the title of most successful American gymnast at the Olympics with Shannon Miller. Miller only has two gold medals, while Biles has four.

A few months following the Olympics in Tokyo, Biles candidly disclosed her difficulties working out. She was afraid when she acknowledged that she had mental obstacles.

Her performance at the Olympics in Tokyo demonstrated these mental barriers as she was unable to achieve the skills she had been practicing. Biles said she was scared to execute her routine because she was frightened of getting hurt, despite her frequent mental obstacles.

Biles acknowledges that her family and current spouse have been instrumental in assisting her in managing the numerous obstacles she has encountered lately. Even her coaches can tell that she can push herself to be the best she can be with his backing.

After the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Biles considered retiring for a short while, but she triumphed at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Biles’ domination at the Olympics and World Championships is highlighted by a thorough analysis, since she won numerous medals in a variety of sports.

Her influence goes beyond the global arena, as demonstrated by her outstanding results at the US Championships, US Classic, and other contests, where she routinely wins gold in the various apparatus and all-around categories. Beyond winning medals, Biles and her parents, Ron and Nellie, have built a gymnastics legacy.

Her parent’s World Champions Centre in Spring, Texas, is a shining example of inclusivity and representation in a historically homogeneous sport.

Emphasizing that “representation matters,” Biles takes pride in the center’s ability to inspire the next generation. Since its opening in 2016, the center has created a welcoming atmosphere where aspiring gymnasts, regardless of their background, can see themselves reflected in those who have reached greatness.
